Narwhals - toothed whales (National Geographic)

See video

Narwhals are a unique species of whales with a large horn or tusk that is actually an overgrown tooth. No one yet knows what the purpose is of this horn.

It was once believed that narwhal tusks belonged to the legendary unicorn, and Vikings and other traders sold them for many times their weight in gold. Inuit people may legally hunt narwhals for subsistence. Narwhals are also preyed upon by polar bears and orcas.
